Roy Hessels received his doctorate from Utrecht University in 2017 with the distinction cum laude, and he is currently employed here as an associate professor. His research is focused on the role of gaze behavior in human interaction, including face-to-face collaborations, conversations, parent-child play, and interactions in crowds. He has further published extensively on eye-tracking methodology.

Title of the talk:  “Gaze Behavior in Human Interaction: From Perception to Communication Across Individuals and Cultures”

Professor Hessels' talk covered how eye gaze behavior is related to one's own behavior, the behavior of others, and multimodal communication, including dual eye-tracking studies of face-to-face conversations, collaborative puzzle solving, and brief chance encounters, and so on.
